August 29, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Just prior to the release of a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Iran's nuclear program, the world is experiencing a new round of negative publicity by the western powers.
The German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the President of France Nicolas Sarkozy have issued a warning for newer sanctions if Iran does not demonstrate a willingness to negotiate on its nuclear program.
The German Chancellor while being accompanied by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a news conference on Tuesday spoke of the possibility of more penalties against Iran. She said, 'If there is no positive answer by September, we will have to consider further measures,’ In the mean time the United States has also given Iran a so called deadline until September to dismantle its peaceful nuclear program all together or face more sanctions.
France's Nicolas Sarkozy - who is losing his popularity at home -also expressed impatience with Iranian reluctance to forfeit its nuclear program and spoke about the possibility of most severe economic sanctions against Iran if it does not cease its nuclear activities. Sarkozy said, 'there are the same leaders, in Iran, who tell us that the nuclear program is peaceful and that elections were honest, but frankly who can believe them.'
Iran has always maintained that its nuclear program is peaceful. It has also rejected any possibilities of ceasing its nuclear program at any given time.
