Geneva, Switzerland – October 01, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian team and the group of 5+1 held their first round of negotiations this morning. Iranian chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, held a one to one meeting with the US official William Burns during the morning talks just before the lunch break.
Details about the talks between Iranian and US officials have not been made public. Later in the afternoon, the Iranian delegation met with representatives from the group of 5+1 headed by the European Union representative Javier Solana.
After the meeting in the course of a press conference, Mr. Solana provided some details about the negotiation. He said, both parties agreed to setup a task force of international inspectors to visit the newly built second nuclear enrichment plant in central part of Iran near the city of Qom. Iran has already agreed to allow inspectors to visit the site within the next few weeks.
Moreover, both parties have agreed to proceed with providing Iran with enough 19% enriched uranium for use at the country's small 5 MW research reactor. For this purpose, Iran will ship certain amount of LEU (low enriched uranium) to another country such as Russia or the United States for further processing and receive the higher enriched uranium.
The parties agreed to implement this task within the next two to three weeks. Iran and 5+1 also agreed to hold a second round of talks before the end of this month.
