October, 04, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Taliban fighters attacked two US outposts in the province of Nuristan in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, killing eight soldiers and two afghan police officers.
US military statement said the Talibans' attack came from a nearby mosque and the surroundings upon the military outpost located in a remote area. The Talibans are now capable of employing complex tactics to stage attacks on NATO forces since the past several month, a top US general said.
In 2008, 9 US soldiers were killed in the same area when about 200 Talibans stormed their outpost in the village of Wanat.
US and NATO forces have been trying to defeat the Talibans for about seven years without success. The world public opinion however is completely against continuation of war in both Iraq and Afghanistan thereby applying enormous pressures on politicians to quickly resolve the issue before the conflict spreads to other parts of the world.
United States currently grapples with its massive troubles at home and many Americans urge the Obama administration to quickly pull all US troops out of the Middle East.
