Tehran - Minister of Culture and the Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini said on Sunday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is to thwart soft power offensive by both cultural and military means.

He made the remarks in a conference on “Psychological warfare and role of Media” in Tehran.

Cultural imperialism has employed all its facilities to conduct a campaign against the Islamic Revolution but to no avail, he said adding that “We are determined to powerfully counter their conspiracy.”

The form of campaign has changed from mere military power into a new form which requires renovation, practicality, investments and allocation of budgets and human resources to bolster think tanks, he said.

“To win the struggle we should challenge their weak points but they have upper hand in using sophisticated apparatus,” he said.

“We should identify their weakness and to properly use their tools and tricks in this campaign,” he underlined.

He termed some of their tricks as conducting psychological warfare, distorting realities, broadcasting fabricated news, labeling, propaganda, intimidation, sowing discord, promoting Islamophobia and Iranophobia, censorship and hurting sentiments of people.
