Ankara, October 16, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - A Turkish television program depicts Israeli soldiers as aggressors during the last year's Gaza offensive. The show is creating an already tense situation worse between Ankara and Tel-Aviv.
In the last few days Turkey refused to allow Israeli military units join exercises that it was staging with Nato and US forces. The US army had no choice but to cancel the exercises.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the decision to exclude Israel from the military drill 'Anatolian Eagle’ was in fact his government's reaction to the Jewish states' extreme behavior ten month ago in Gaza. He was referring to the Israeli military offensive on Gaza using modern weaponry as well as banned substances on civilian population inside the Gaza enclave killing over 1000 Palestinians.
'Anyone who exercises political power has to take account of public opinion . . . I can’t just put the calls from the public to one side, it’s a question of sincerity,' Erdogan said.
The show called Farewell depicts actors play roles as Israeli soldiers shooting at Palestinian children, newborn babies and their mothers killing them without remorse.
In reactions to these developments the Israeli extremist leaders deny that such actions have ever taken place during the Gaza offensive. This is despite all the facts on the ground as well as the latest findings by an independent tribunal substantiating Israeli aggression against the people of Gaza.
