Tehran, October 27, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - An Iranian Oil Ministry Official announced yesterday that the Turkish Government would be signing a contract with Iranian oil companies to invest up to $4 billion in Iran's South Pars gas field, the single largest gas field in the world located in the Persian Gulf waters.
Ibrahim Radafzoun, deputy Oil Minister for planning said on Monday, 'The investment by Turkey will be made in phases 6 and 7 of South Pars gas field and Iran and Turkey would discuss Turkey's investment as well as other issues of mutual interests.
The Turkish Prime Minister Rejeb Teyeb Erdogan is on an official visit to Tehran seeking to bolster bilateral ties on economic and trade transactions. He will also discuss regional issues with Iranian officials.
South Pars gas field is estimated to hold about 14 trillion cubic meters of gas, or about eight percent of total world reserves. The reserves are shared between Iran and Qatar.
