A draft resolution proposed by Islamic Republic of Iran which asks all nuclear countries to destroy their nuclear arsenals under international supervision was approved in the UN Tuesday.
According to IRIB, US, Britain, France, the Zionist regime and a few other western countries opposed the resolution, but more than 100 countries voted for it.
The proposed resolution was approved in the first committee of the UN General Assembly. This is the third time which the resolution is approved in the UN.
The first resolution was approved in 2005 in the UN summit, when the issue of nuclear disarmament was followed by Iran's president. Part of the resolution says the Zionist regime should join Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and allow its nuclear installations to come under supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
New US government, in spite of its claim for changing policies, voted against the resolution. On contrary, non-nuclear members of the Non-Aligned Movement supported the resolution.
