Tehran, November 08, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki strongly criticized recent remarks by French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner on Iran by warning that such statements harm the interests of the French people.
"We are getting used to the French foreign minister's lack of insight regarding the developments of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we believe that these ignorant statements would affect the interest of the French nation," Mottaki said in a press conference on Friday.
"Instead of making condemnatory statements against others, I would advise Mr. Kouchner to pay a little visit to the suburbs of Paris to catch on to the ongoing human rights violations taking place there," he added.
Mottaki referring to French position in the latest round of talks in Vienna last month said, 'French officials were present at Vienna talks held by efforts of the IAEA chief Mohammad ElBaradei, they should have been more realistic toward other participants and offer correct measures regarding Iran's readiness to cooperate and apply fair position over technical / economical issues during talks.'
French Foreign Minister has been more vocal in recent month about Iran's nuclear dossier. Kouchner criticized Iran over a Western backed nuclear fuel swap idea and demanded Tehran's immediate response.
The nuclear fuel swap idea was to ship as much as 70 percent of Iran's current low enriched uranium (LEU) over to third countries for further processing into fuel suitable for use at Tehran research reactor.
