3128 People Inflicted With
the Swine Flu Virus
Tehran - Iranian health officials announce forty-eight more death related to swine flu virus in the last 48 weeks. The latest casualties bring to 100 the number of people perished by the deadly virus in Iran since the outbreak.
"During the last week, a total number of 42 people died of swine flu." Iranian health ministry announced on Wednesday. The health ministry also reported over 466 additional swine flu cases registered across the country. The total number of people inflicted with the virus now reaches 3128 cases since the outbreak in June.
The country’s health units are copying well with the situation and have so far prevented the disease from becoming an epidemic. In August, Iran halted its yearly pilgrimage program to the holy city of Mecca in an effort to postpone a likely spread of the disease.
Health official advice people to adopt simple precautionary measures including frequent hands washing, using a tissue over the mouth when coughing or sneezing.
Symptoms of swine flu are similar to the common flu: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue, and sometimes diarrhea and vomiting. Swine flu also can cause pneumonia, which can make it hard to breathe.
