Tehran, Nov. 19, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian official strongly criticized the US government for not fulfilling promises of ‘Change’ given by its President during the elections campaign last year.
The Chief of Iran’s Expediency council Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in meeting with the Swedish Ambassador to Tehran, Magnus Wernstedt, complained of Obama administration’s recent antagonism towards Iran.
Rafsanjani spoke of the US officials’ illegal attempts to seize the Alavi Foundation and the allocation of nearly $55 million dollars for propaganda warfare against the people of Iran.
In New York, local authorities are trying to confiscate a 36-story building on Fifth Avenue, which belongs to the Alavi Foundation. The Alavai Foundation is a registered charity foundation in the United States.
US authorities accuse the Foundation for cooperating with Iran’s largest state bank, Melli - allegedly transferring funds directed at Iran’s nuclear program.
Hashemi Rafsanjani reiterated the fact that such actions are purely motivated by political objectives. ‘The US and the West are well aware that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no interest of achieving nuclear weapons and its record approves it,’ he said.
Rafsanjani warned that these kinds of actions would not prevent Iran from continuing on its peaceful pursuit of nuclear program. He also said the IAEA, under the Non-Proliferation rules and regulations, is obliged to supply Iran with nuclear fuel, especially when it’s used for medical and research purposes.
