Tehran, Nov. 21, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian Armed Forces prepare for a series of military exercises in the western and central parts of the country. The upcoming military drills will enhance units preparedness against possible enemy attacks on the country’s nuclear sites.
According to Commander of Khatam-ol-Anbia Air Defence Base Brigadier General Ahmad Miqqani speaking to reporters on Saturday, the war-games would be part of the annual drill exercises at the base.
The military drill is codenamed ‘Modafean-e-Aseman-e-Velayat 2 (Defenders of the Velayat’s Skies 2) begins early tomorrow morning in three stages.
The General outlined overall aims of the exercises, which would include use of various air-defence systems, armaments and equipments between two enemies supposedly engaging one another.
The General also said that the war games would cover an area of approximately 600,000 sq/km, deploying various weaponries and modern technologies especially aimed at a comprehensive assessment of enemy’s electronic war capabilities.
General Miqqani underlined that Iran is pursuing a defensive military doctrine.
Iran since after the revolution has achieved self-sufficiency in defence related manufacturing. Iranian armed force deploy domestically manufactured military equipment including, tanks, air-defence systems, missiles and electronic warfare technologies.
