Commander: Enemies' Targets in Persian Gulf within Navy's Gunshot
Tehran, Nov. 22, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - A Senior Iranian commander, First Captain Abdolhamid Kefayat told Fars News Agency on Iranian navy’s capabilities in the strategic Persian Gulf.
The Commander of the Kharamshahr marine base said enemy targets in the Persian Gulf lie within the Iranian Navy’s powerful firing range, which should give a decisive response to any aggression. The Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) forces are at the highest level of preparedness.
They are monitoring all enemy moves and are ready to repel any aggression in (Iran's) Persian Gulf coasts," He added.
The Commander referred to Iran’s advancements in the field of military technology comparing it to 30 years ago, when the country’s defence establishments were fully dependent on foreign assistance and purchases.
He said,’ Today, we are honoured that we manufacture all our military equipment and facilities inside the country and we are needless of the foreigners."
Iran currently manufactures almost all of its defence hardware and equipment, domestically. It manufactures missiles, tanks, submarines, and electronic warfare equipment.
The newly introduced Ghadir-class submarine can easily evade detection, as it is equipped with sonar-evading technology and can fire missiles and torpedoes simultaneously.
