Tehran, Nov. 24, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) Ali Asghar Salehi said on Tuesday that the West is trying to create a rift between Tehran and Moscow.
He stressed both Iran and Russia; continue to make progress on the completion of the Bushehr nuclear power plant located in the southern part of Iran.
‘Our work with Russia is moving forward significantly well, but there are certain misunderstandings which westerners have sought to provoke as they don't want the good political relations between Iran and Russia to be durable,’ Salehi said during a press conference.
On the subject of the Bushehr plant he said,’ the work is moving forward according to the agreements that we have made with the Russians in Vienna. Russia is active even beyond the agreement… Thus, we don't have any problem with Russia.’
Iran has been asking Russia to speed up the work on the project, which has taken years already. But, Russian energy official say that technical issues prevent them from completing the project on time and yesterday Russia’s energy minister again played down the role of politics for latest delay.
