US Democrat and Republican administrations follow identical policies towards Iran
Tehran, Nov. 25, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) – Ali Larijani, Iran’s Parliament Speaker said today, both US political parties and administrations follow identical policies towards Iran.
‘Sometimes lack of knowledge makes us think in a way that a certain group will have better performance than the other despite the fact that the US has already labeled Iran as a member of the so called axis of evil,’ Larijani said
Since becoming the 44th US president, Barack Obama has been involved with some the most daunting challenges any US president could ever face. He had to tackle US’ direct involvements in three wars, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also had to deal with the North Korean nuclear crisis, growing tensions in Latin America, Iran’s rise as a regional power and most importantly the devastating global economic crisis.
Given the enormity of the challenges ahead, Obama began his tenure with the famous ‘Change You Can Believe In’ motto as if to assure everyone that it’s going to be possible to change the situation for the better. However, not longer after moving into his White House office, many people across the world believe his policies don't exactly follow what he had promised.
Larijani explained, ‘The US literature may have changed but we should ask ourselves what have they done during this period,’ to a group of audience at a conference on civil defence in Tehran.
One of Obama’s biggest failures so far is the growing tension between the Palestinians and the Israelis. On this Larijani said, ‘Obama does not even make a small move in order to solve the Palestinian problems, Israelis still control Palestine’s borders. Therefore, we should not believe when Obama talks about a new attitude towards Islam by changing his literature.’
Iran and the United States have had no diplomatic relation from the year 1979 when the Islamic Revolution overthrew the former Pahlavi regime.
