Iran Will Pursue the Enrichment Program Without Stop
Nov. 27, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) – The UN nuclear watchdog’s governing body finally passed an anti-Iran and politically motivated resolution today in Vienna. It says the governing board is seriously concerned about Iranian secret nuclear program and demands an immediate freeze to its enrichment program.
The resolution was passed 25-3 and six abstentions by the 35 nations comprising the IAEA’s governing board in Vienna. Malaysia, Venezuela and Cuba opposed the resolution.
Russia and China, which normally refrained from voting against Iran, did however back the resolution this time around. But it is still unclear if they would go all the way towards full implementation of sanctions against Iran.
The resolution rebukes Iran for supposedly building secret facilities in addition to Natanz nuclear site. However, that’s strange since Iran already announced the existence of the Ferdow nuclear site well in advance before it should become operational.
In reaction to today’s vote, Iran’s representative to IAEA, said such decision was ‘hasty and undue’ step, and it would certainly damage the existing environment of cooperation with the IAEA.
Moreover, Soltanieh once again confirmed that Iran would continue with its enrichment activities under IAEA safeguards. He also called on the West to stop antagonistic attitudes towards Iran and instead pave the way for more cooperation.
According to latest findings majority of Iranians support the country’s nuclear program and also encourage the government for its steadfast quest of this vital technology.
