Turkish FM says he is negotiating With Tehran on Nuclear Fuel Exchange Proposal
Nov. 28, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Independent sources in Iran report that Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu is making efforts to soften Iran’s stance on the proposed nuclear fuel exchange deal.
According to Tabnak news website in Persian, yesterday, the Turkish FM in a telephone conversation with the US President Barack Obama and US’ National Security Advisor James Jones, said he was hopeful his talks with Iranian officials would lead to shipping out most of Iran’s low enriched uranium to Turkey.
Davutoglu said ‘he had meetings with top Iranian nuclear negotiators in the city of Tabriz inside Iran where had received positive responses.’ Tabnak reports.
Davutoglu also confirmed that already he had negotiations with his US, UK and German counterparts on the fuel exchange proposal.
The website also mentions that the Turkish Foreign Minister’s claims come at the time when Iranian authorities have announced that the country wouldn’t accept the proposal without concrete guarantees. However, to begin with, shipping out uranium enriched inside the country would be out of the question .
Last week Manuchehr Mottaki did put an end to all speculations regarding the nuclear fuel exchange deal by saying that Iran will never ship its low enriched uranium outside the country.
