Iranians Support the Country's Nuclear Program
Tehran, Nov. 29, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s Friday Prayer speaker Ayahtollah Ahmad Khatami on the occasion of Eid al-Ahda, an important day on the Muslim calendar, warned the UN nuclear watchdog that it will face full consequences of its unjustifiable actions by adopting the anti-Iran resolution last Friday in Vienna.
The Ayatollah reiterated that instead of harming Iran, the adoption of the new resolution would only impair the UN nuclear watchdog and Security Council’s activities.
The governing board of the IAEA adopted an anti-Iran resolution bringing supposedly secret nuclear activities out from science fiction stories to world’s attention. The resolution aimed at painting a bleak picture over Iranian peaceful nuclear program.
Khatami said Western countries are obligated to provide nuclear fuel for Tehran reactor and there is no questioning on that if they failed to do so, Iran has the wherewithal to produce all of its own requirements for the research reactor to continue operating.
Tehran reactor produces medical radioisotopes, therefore, its continuous operation is absolutely essential.
In a related development a leading Iranian lawmaker Mohamad Karimirad said ‘The parliament, in its first reaction to this illegal and politically-motivated resolution, can consider the issue of withdrawing from the NPT and the parliament ... (also) can block the entry of IAEA inspectors to the country,’ in a report by IRNA. Karimirad said if Iran withdraws from the NPT its nuclear program would no longer be subject to oversight by the UN nuclear watchdog.
Iran’s permanent representative to the IAEA, Ali Asghar Soltanieh said Tehran would not heed to the resolution and continues on with its nuclear enrichment program without a stop, soon after the voting.
According to experts living in Iran, almost all Iranians back the government’s endeavour for an indigenous nuclear program and in this way give their full support in the direction of self-sufficiency.
