Rafsanjani Calls the Resolution 'Cruel'
Tehran, Nov. 30. (Hamsayeh.Net) - Top figures in Iranian politics are expressing their dissatisfaction with the IAEA’s decision against Iran. One of the most prominent figures, the Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, described the resolution as a very ‘cruel’ action by the IAEA board of governors. Rafsanjani was speaking at a gathering of university students praising the achievement made by Iranian people in nuclear field.
“Iran has achieved its scientific position in the field of nuclear technology through relentless efforts and we should adopt an active and preventive policy in dealing with such behaviors at international arena,” Rafsanjani said.
The IAEA under pressure from Western powers passed on Friday a resolution that demands an end to all enrichment activities in Iran. Tehran however reacted to the resolution calling it hasty and politically motivated. Iranian nuclear officials also announced the country would more than ever continue with its peaceful nuclear program.
Yesterday at the Cabinet meeting, the government of Mahmoud Ahmadinejd gave a go-ahead with the construction of 10 additional uranium enrichment plants in the country.
