Washington Talking about a New Deadline by The End of This Year
Dec. 04, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The Obama government has once again called for fresh sanctions against Iran. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs yesterday announced that the US has shifted the deadline for the Iranian government to comply with international demands on halting its nuclear program in order to avoid more sanctions.
The Obama administration on various occasions issued final deadlines for Iran to comply with Washington’s illogical demands. One final deadline was set until the end of last September and now another is being set for the end of this year.
It isn’t clear what Obama government really intends to do with uttering threats of sanctions since the Iranian government has already dismissed such threats as futile attempts that lead nowhere.
The US House of Representatives, the same government body that blocked court-ordered investigation into Israeli genocide in Gaza, would meet to pass the new deadline against Iran before holiday break.
No one yet knows what the new deadline expects Iran to do, but it is expected to once again call on Tehran to abandon all of its peaceful nuclear program and accept a deal in which it will handover most of its safely stored low enriched uranium stocks to another country on the basis of building more confidence. The US and some other western countries suspect Iran is building nuclear weapons but Iran flatly denies the charge.
In another development, in Moscow, the Russian Prime Minister Vladmir Putin speaking to reporters yesterday said, ‘ We have no information that Iran is working on the creation of a nuclear weapon,’ Reuters quoted Putin as saying when asked by a reporter if Iran was close to making an atomic bomb.
The IAEA also repeatedly said it has found no evidence Iran is diverting its nuclear program towards building nuclear weapons.
