Enemy is Using Soft Warfare To Weaken Nation's Self-Confidence
Tehran, Dec. 07, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Top Iranian officials warn of increasingly sophisticated waves of psychological warfare against Iran. Today, a senior Iranian Army commander pointed to this situation saying that enemies are now concentrating on the nation’s self-confidence more than ever.
Deputy Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces for Information and Operation Brigadier General Mohammad Baqeri attending a security conference in Tehran said, ‘Enemies have been mobilized for a soft war against the Islamic Iran and they are seeking to promote (national and individual) underestimation in the country to bring the Islamic Republic to its knees.’ Commander Baqeri gave descriptive details of such warfare by describing that enemy tries to read the mind of the other side and then invade what could be considered as its values and patterns of behavior.
Baqeri’s wakeup call follows an earlier comment by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni emphasizing the importance of taking proper measures against enemy’s psychological war. In November Ayatollah Khamenei said,’ Today, the main priority of the country is to confront (enemy's) soft warfare which is aimed at creating doubt, discord and pessimism among the people.’
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that it is because the enemy feels powerless when confronting the Iranian people and by waging a soft warfare it intends to achieve its evil designs utilizing different methods. ‘Confronting the enemy's soft warfare is the main priority today,’ the Leader noted.
’In soft war, enemy seeks to create doubt, pessimism and discord by spreading rumors and lies and using certain excuses through advanced cultural and communication means,’ Ayatollah Khamenei explained.
