Work is being done to find locations for the other Five enrichment sites
Tehran Dec. 09, 09 (hamsayeh.Net) - Today, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced Iran has designated five geographical locations within the countries vast mountainous regions as new locations for the proposed enrichment sites.
The Iranian President while attending a cabinet meeting specified Iran’s position with respect to a recent announcement on the construction of 10 additional enrichment facilities that could enable the country to produce all of its needed fuel for generating 20,000 MW of electricity within the next few years.
At the meeting Ahmadinejad said five of the locations have been selected and more work is being done to find suitable sites for the other five enrichment facilities.
Earlier Iranian nuclear officials announced Iran has achieved self-sufficiency in manufacturing and assembling a more advance version of centrifuges machines. Iranian scientists and technicians intend to fit and run the more efficient versions at designated nuclear enrichment plants. The overall size for the structures of the new sites could be more compact yet each site should be able to produce similar amounts of enriched uranium as the one currently operating in Natanz.
Western powers have been accusing Tehran of clandestine nuclear activities, but they haven’t substantiated their claims with any proof. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has inspected all related nuclear sites in Iran and has never found any evidence that substantiates those claims by Western powers.
Western media also questioned Iran’s ability to built 10 new sites in such short order. They concluded that the announcement meant as a political bluff. However, Ahmadinejad responded by saying, ‘Our decisions are clear and it is not hard to test them, everything we said in the past came true.’
Ahmadinejad said the Iranian nuclear dossier was closed two years ago and one wonders as to why some Western countries still discussing the issue after so long time. The President didn’t specify the exact locations of the new sites, but he confirmed the sites would be built deep inside mountains.
According to the latest findings, Iran’s peaceful nuclear program enjoys extensive popular support amongst Iranians from every age and group.
