Iran is determined to continue with its N. program more than ever
Tehran Dec. 09, 09 (hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki has informed members of the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors' foreign ministers on Iran’s decision regarding the latest IAEA resolution. Mottaki confirmed Iran’s firm determination to continue on with its peaceful nuclear program.
The FM thanked the countries that rejected the vote and abstained from voting. He said, ‘Your negative vote to this resolution once again proved your commitment to the principles of the NAM and recalls the need to resist against such illegal and irrational stands.’
Mottaki also referred to those countries that voted against Iran and asked them to fully observe the rights of the NPT member states and review their standpoints on this important issue. He said, ‘But the western countries, instead of lauding Iran’s constructive cooperation, in a politically-motivated move issued a resolution against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.’
Also in Tehran yesterday, MP Kazem Jalili said Iran would not hesitate to greatly reduce its cooperation with the IAEA if there’s going to be any new resolution against Tehran. The MP pointed out that the country does not regard as an obligation to cooperate when the UN Security Council decisions are politically motivated.
Days before the last IAEA meeting Iran opened its doors to international inspectors to visit the new Ferdow enrichment plant. But in a surprised move the IAEA board of governors viewed the fully transparent project in Ferdow as being a secret program.
On this issue Jalili said the resolution was not based on agency’s inspections but rather a purely political move that was ratified under enormous pressures from major powers.
Iran has always maintained that its nuclear program is peaceful and is geared towards the country's progress.
