Over 120 killed by US aerial attacks on Houthi villages
Dec. 16, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Northern Yemen Shi’ite fighters have been pounded with joint military operations by the US, Saudi Arabian and Yemeni warplanes and ground forces in the last 48 hours.
The Shi’ite fighters known as Houthis accuse the US air force of launching aerial attacks against their civilian population and say over 120 people have been killed in those attacks. ‘The savage crime committed by the U.S. air force shows the real face of the United States,’ said Houthis. The Houthis also showed images of destroyed houses and covered human bodies on their website.
‘The US air force perpetrated an appalling massacre against citizens in the north of Yemen as it launched air raids on various populated areas, markets, refugee camps and villages along with Saudi warplanes,’ the northern Yemen-based Houthi Shia fighters added.
The coordinated attacks against the northern-Yemen shi’ite fighters show that US and its allies might have decided to expand their wars on what they claim to be a battle against terrorism to other parts of the oil rich regions in the Middle East. The Obama administration is busy waging wars in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and now northern Yemen.
The Houthis have historical grievances with the government of Yemen and they accuse San’a for violation of their civil rights, political, economic and religious marginalization as well as large-scale corruption.
