US Should Keep To its Own Boundries
Dec. 17, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad upon his arrival in Copenhagen this morning to address the ongoing environmental conference, held a press conference with reporters on important global issues.
Speaking to Danish media, the Iranian President was quick to criticize the United States for its military interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan two of Iran’s closest neighbors. Ahmadinejad offered several recommendations to the US policy makers. His first suggestion was for the US to stay within its own borders. ‘The US like any other country has certain geographical boundaries and should keep to its borders.’
Next came Ahmadinejad asking Washington to apply major changes to its policies especially with respect to the lingering war in Afghanistan where he said,’ Today, the situation in these countries has worsened much more than seven years ago and before the [US-led] invasion. The situation in these countries has not improved even with NATO presence," he was quoted by Press TV as saying to Danish television.
The Iranian President then described how little the US and NATO knew about history, culture and geography of the region before sending their armies. He also blasted those countries that possessed nuclear weapons for wanting to experience certain superiority over others. Ahmdinejad said nuclear weapons are ‘the most inhumane of weapons.’
Later in the day, Ahmadinejad delivered his speech on the environmental disaster befalling upon humanity. He noted 'capitalism' as the main cause of world’s environmental crisis. ‘Profit-making approach to the world resources must be avoided,’ he said.
Ahmadinejad accused Washington for its monopolistic attitudes towards access to modern technology for other countries. He said, ‘All countries must gain access to new technologies to diversify their energy resources and be able to use clean and renewable energy such as wind, solar, sea tide, geothermal and nuclear energies.’
He said that the US by opposing advancements in the field of nuclear technology hopes to pressure Iran to rely on use and exports of non-renewable fossil fuels that would help keep the existing global economic model running longer for capitalist hawks.
