Post WWII Materialistic Interests of Certain Countries Caused Our Current Climate Crisis
Tehran, Dec. 18, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is assigning a team of investigators to assess damages inflicted on Iran in the course of the Second World War by the Allies and the former Soviet Union's war games over Iran.
Ahmadinejad on his last day of visit to Copenhagen for the climate summit attended a press conference. The President expressed his views on the climate summit by noting that it was not in the interest of the post WWII imperialist powers to allow constructive outcomes to be reached during such an important summit. He said during the WWII the US, Britain and the former Soviet Union used Iran’s strategic land base and facilities to win their wars while causing enormous damages to the country without receiving any compensation after the war ended.
Ahmadinejad said those countries received their own compensations while they ignored them for others. He said that Western powers also tried to prevent Iranian people from nationalizing the oil industry through a military coup after the Second World War. For these reasons, the Iranian President will assign a team of experts to assess damages and then write a letter to the UN Secretary General so that Iran is granted compensation.
The Iranian President then looked at the issue of the climate change from a different perspective than what some western countries would like to hear. He said certain countries’ unilateral attitudes and their endless quest for own interests have led to sacrificing of human and ethical values in the process. He blamed those countries for materialistic interests, which caused imposition of severest conditions on the planet’s resources thus making it impossible to reach a conclusive agreement to resolve the issue, as it is evident in Copenhagen.
Ahmadinejad thanked the Danish government and people for a warm hospitality during his visit and hoped for deeper and stronger ties between the two nations.
