US Is Building a Huge Wall Along Egypt -Gaza Border To Strangulate The Impoverished Region
Dec. 20, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Palestinian Hamas movement strongly condemned Egyptian government’s collaboration with US Army engineers to build a massive wall along its border with the Gaza Strip, which could hinder transportations of needed supplies to the besieged area.
Hamas Spokesman Fawzi Barhoun said the Egyptian move against the people of Gaza would further block humanitarian assistance to the impoverished region. He called it a crime against humanity.
Based on latest news, US Army engineers under pressure from Tel-Aviv have started building a massive steel and concrete wall about 10 km in length that would be buried as deep as 18 meters into the desert sand to cut all the underground tunnels along Gaza and Egypt border. Palestinians use the tunnels to bring in basic food, fuel and medical supplies to millions of inhabitants in the Gaza strip.
The Israeli regime fears the existence of tunnels as the only route for Palestinian resistant groups to bring in weapons and ammunitions to the area, therefore it asked the United States to grant millions of dollars in aid to Egypt as well as help it build the big wall.
The construction of the wall could take about 2 years to complete.
