The World Must Ban Productions of Nuclear Weapons: Jalili
Tehran, Dec. 22, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The US government says it is now ready to expand wars to other nations and regions around the world.
US Admiral Michael Mullen said yesterday, the military under his command is fully ready to attack Iran militarily upon the presidential order. Mullen said it was necessary that in this case the threat of launching a military attack to run alongside any negotiations with Tehran.
The US government, as what some historians and analysts say, is facing the fast approaching end of its empire. Washington decision makers are busy spending most of the country’s resources on launching big wars around the world, especially in regions where oil resources abound.
The US Army at this time in addition to its deep involvements in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan has just opened another front in Yemen. The Pentagon planners are also making military preparations against the oil rich Venezuela .The Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has recently unveiled a US plan for building up military forces in and around Latin America. There are other hot spots where the US might have to get involved militarily including on the Korean Peninsula and Somalia.
Based on Mullen’s hypothesis, a military attack on Iran would achieve limited results and it may not even stop Tehran’s nuclear program. In other words, the military option against Iran might only buy more time. Military analysts believe a military attack against Iran is only a waste of time and energy and it could even harden the country’s resolve to expand the nuclear program.
Meanwhile Chief Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili on a visit to Japan, told journalists that all nations must ban productions of nuclear weapons. He said the nuclear technology must only be used for civilian programs and peaceful purposes. He blamed the United States and some other countries for building vast stockpiles of nuclear warheads.
‘The crime that was committed in Hiroshima must never be repeated, therefore a global determination must be made to disarm all nations with these weapons.’ saeed Jalili told reporters at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan, referring to the United States' dropping of an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, at the end of World War II.
