We are Afghans and are fighting for the freedom of our homeland
Dec. 23, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - In response to US troop surge announcement by Barack Obama, a senior Pakistan based Taliban commander told the Associated Press Wednesday about an eminent dispatching of thousands of Taliban fighters from Pakistan into Afghanistan for battles against US and NATO forces.
Walinur Rehman who is a deputy to Hakimullah Mehsud, the Taliban leader in Pakistan, said since the American President Obama is sending more troops to Afghanistan, we would do the same by sending thousands of our men there to fight NATO and American forces.
In Afghanistan another senior Taliban commander Mulla Sangeen in a video message rejected a recent claim by Americans that Taliban forces were fleeing combat zones to other areas. He said Taliban effectively controls about 80 percent of Afghanistan and its networks remain intact.
He reassured the Americans that more and more Afghan fighters are joining the battle against US and NATO forces on daily bases. ‘The US knows that we are here in Afghanistan and are fighting against them. The US always levels such allegations whenever it suffers losses at our hands,’ he stressed.
Sangeen said in the video the US and its allies had invaded Afghanistan and promised they are going to rebuild the country and bring prosperity but instead, they turned Afghanistan into ruins killing thousands of Afghans, bombed their homes in the name of war on terror. ‘We are Afghans and are fighting for the freedom of our homeland,” the Afghan commander said.
