EYES ARE ON THE NEW IAEA CHIEF

The head of Majlis Foreign Policy and National Security Commission referring to the election of Japan's IAEA Ambassador's election as the new chief of the agency, said, 'I believe keeping gin mind its existing potentials, Japan can play an effective role in naturalizing Iran's nuclear file.'

Boroujerdi added, 'If Mr. Amano would manage to act independently in the framework of the IAEA regulations and free from the political pressure of the powers, he can play a good role in this respect, while the Islamic Republic of Iran, too, would feel obliged to abide by its entire obligations towards the agency's regulations.' He said, 'Since Iran's nuclear program is quite transparent and ran under full supervision of the IAEA, we can have transparent cooperation with Japan to the extent that mutual work would permit.'

Boroujerdi explained that the Islamic Republic of Iran has answered the entire remaining questions of the agency and the former IAEA chief Mr. ElBaradei has referred to the point in his several reports, but the file has still not returned to its natural process, shows there still is political force against Iran's access to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes at the agency.
