TWO BLACK BOXES RECOVERED  
 
  

An official has said that two black boxes of a passenger plane, which crashed near the Iranian city of Qazvin, have been found and search is underway to find the third one.

 

Ahmad Majidi, Head of the Crisis Working Group of Iran's Road and Transportation Ministry, told IRNA that experts from Iran's Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) have recovered the two boxes. Majidi noted that the black boxes of the Tupolev plane were heavily damaged but experts are trying to retrieve data from them.


He said "If efforts to retrieve data from the boxes fail, they will be sent back to the country that has produced them so that they could be repaired in order to find the reason behind the crash."


He said that the plane was smashed into pieces after the crash. All the 168 people aboard the plane, including 151 passengers and 15 crew members, were killed in the crash. Seven passengers were foreigners from Armenia and Georgia and all the other passengers were Iranians.


Meanwhile, the Spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry Hassan Qashqavi expressed sorrow over the crash of Iran Caspian passenger plane. Qashqavi considered the crash of Caspian plane en route Tehran-Yerevan as a painful incident.

 

He offered his sincere and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of victims in the aftermath of this tragic plane crash, which led to the death of Islamic Republic of Iran's nationals and foreigners from the Armenian Republic and other countries.
