U.S. OFFICIALS LET IMAGINATIONS RUN WILD

(Hamsayeh.Net) - The US Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, fantasized that Iran's peaceful civilian nuclear programme is a threat to world peace.

According to an AFP report, US defense secretary, Robert Gates said on Thursday that Iran's nuclear ambitions pose "the biggest threat to world's security", and he expressed his concerns about Iran's peaceful civilian nuclear activities.

Furthermore, Gates claimed that the biggest worry is not Iran's determination to build a nuclear weapon but rather, he said, it is the international community's inability to put a stop to it.

Elsewhere in his remarks, The US defense secretary expressed that all international efforts to halt Iran's nuclear programme have been ineffective, and once Iran starts building a bomb, there is a very strong possibility that a nuclear arms race will be triggered in the Middle East.

The US defense secretary said Washington will try to persuade Moscow for cooperation on this issue. 'Iran's nuclear programme is not just a threat for the United States but to the whole world,' Gates proclaimed.
