August 13, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Russian Prime Minister Vladmir Putin arrived in Sukhumi the capital city of Abkhazia for a working visit. Several members of the Russian government also accompany the Prime Minister during the trip.
Putin plans to pay homage to Abkhazian soldiers and guards died during 1992 - 1993 war with the neighbouring Georgia at the Glory Memorial in Sukhumi. He will also visit a maternity home, which opened on August 10 after restoration project funded by the Russian government with more than 80 million rubles in grant.
In the meantime, Putin will participate at a working session of the government and hold talks with President Sergei Bagapash of the Rupublic of Abkhazia as recognized by Moscow.
Recently the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has asked the Parliament to pass a new law in which the military will be able to participate in actions in other regions whenever it is needed to defend the country. As of late the Russian military has been able to effectively secure peace in the Caucasus region.
