TEHRAN - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will attend the UN General Assembly meeting later this month in New York, his close aide and chief of staff Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie said on Thursday.
"He will undertake this trip which will be a good occasion to participate in an international meeting and to encourage Iranian views in managing the world," Rahim Mashaie told reporters on the sidelines of a vote of confidence in parliament on Ahmadinejad's proposed new cabinet.
Iranian parliament's deputies on Thursday gave votes of confidence to 18 ministers proposed by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The Parliament gave its vote of confidence after several days of deliberation during which deputies spoke in favor or against the proposed ministers.
The result of the polling was announced by Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani during an open session this morning.
The nominees who failed to win the parliament's approval were the proposed candidates for the ministries of welfare and social security, energy, and education, Fatemeh Ajorlou, Mohammad Aliabadi, and Sousan Keshavarz.
