Russians Hold Massive Anti-Capitalism Demonstrations

The country’s newly-found aristocratic class has been manipulating the rules in order to serve own interests.

March 29, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - More Russians in remote regions held anti-government demonstrations complaining of poverty and other social ills currently being felt by the vast majority of the population.

Yesterday, in the northwestern city of Archangelsk people held a rally at the main Lenin Square in downtown chanting ‘Down with this useless government,’ Reuters reported. Many of the demonstrators held red hammer and sickle flags demanding an end to Russia’s newly-established capitalist economic system that only benefits the elites, reminiscent of the former Tsarist Russia.

‘Putin and Medvedev, along with all deputies and bureaucrats and governors, must be sacked, because they have deprived us of everything, because we cannot afford paying for municipal services,’ an angry demonstrator shouted as reported by Reuters.

According to reports, the country’s newly-found aristocratic class has been manipulating the rules in order to serve own interests. Most people in Russia are angry about high level of unemployment standing at over 9 percent, high cost of living, privileged status for certain groups and setting up of industries that cause pollution to the environment.
