March 30, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - US investigators said they have arrested a team of militant extremists consisting of nine members who planned to carryout major armed conflict against the US government.

 

Police in the state of Michigan claimed they have busted a suspected terrorist group conspiring to kill a police officer and supposedly kill more during the funeral procession for the officer. The investigators base their allegations against the members of this group called Hutaree, on a website associated with his group. They also say the members regularly staged live ammunition exercises to prepare for an armed conflict against the government in the future.

 

According to the group’s website, Hutaree means ‘Christian warrior’ and its purpose is to prepare for the end of the world by keeping the testimony of Jesus Christ alive.

 

‘Thankfully, this alleged plot has been thwarted and a severe blow has been dealt to an dangerous organisation that today stands accused of conspiring to levy war against the United States,’ Eric Holder, the US attorney-general said on Monday.

 

Anti-government groups in the US are on the rise because of unemployment and other social ills associated with a prolonged economic downturn.
