China Rebuffs US Claims on Iran Sanctions

China’s position is certain to create a high level of anxiety in the US, prompting  policy-makers in Washington to continue pressures on Beijing.

April 01, 2020 (Hamsayeh.Net) - China has once again brushes aside US claims over a universal agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue and imposition of sanctions against Tehran.

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang speaking to reporters today, said China will continue to work toward peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue. ‘On the Iranian nuclear issue, China will continue to Endeavour toward a peaceful resolution,’ gang said.

Yesterday, US representative to the UN, Susan Rice expressed confidence over reaching a full agreement among six world powers for imposition of sanctions against Tehran within the next few days. But today, China reiterated its earlier stance on the importance of negotiations with respect to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

China’s position is certain to create a high level of anxiety in the US, prompting  policy-makers in Washington to pressure China either by labeling it as a currency manipulator, or signing of separate military contracts with Taiwan until Beijing finally accepts to go along with the sanction idea. ‘We have always and will continue to push for a peaceful settlement of this issue by diplomatic means,’ Qin Gang said.

Also in Beijing Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili is meeting Chinese officials to discuss a range of issues including the country’s peaceful nuclear program.
