Group of Six Meeting Ended Without Reaching an Agreement

The Group of Six meeting today in London, again ended without reaching an agreement for imposing sanctions against Tehran.

April 09, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The group of six meeting today in London ended with no conclusive agreement over imposition of sanctions against Tehran as proposed by the United States and its Western allies the UK, France and Germany.

Much to Washington’s dismay the international community, led by China and Russia, has once again rejected the Western powers call of overplaying the  economic sanctions threat on Iran. The idea of imposing sanction is to weaken the target country’s strength, thus it would succumb to all kinds of demands including the illogical ones.

The United State has been proposing economic sanctions on Iran very much like what the European countries did on Germany prior to the Second World War II or the ‘Food for Oil’ sanctions on Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein in the 90’s.

During today’s meeting in London, while representatives of the US, UK, France and Germany did their best to make a final decision for imposing sanctions on Tehran, representatives of China and Russia again called for more negotiations.

After today’s meeting, some suspect that Washington is now ready to take actions against China’s currency or wage a trade war against Chinese made products.

Also in the coming weeks, the Obama administration would most likely take a more proactive role against Moscow by completing installations of its somewhat redundant missile shields around Russia.
