US State Department Says Iran Has Bad Nuclear Intentions

US questioned Iran's ability to produce even a minuscule amount of higher enriched uranium, which Tehran now claims to have produced several kilograms already.

April 11, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The US State Department said the latest claims by Iran over the country’s nuclear development proves that Iran does indeed have nefarious intentions.

The US State Department announcement came after Iran’s nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi during an official ceremony in Tehran unveiled the country’s latest centrifuges machines. Iran plans to install over 60.000 of the new centrifuges at various locations including at Natanz and Fardo nuclear enrichment plants.

In a speech, Salehi announced that the nation has perfected the technology to begin producing so-called “third generation” centrifuges for its civilian enrichment program, enabling Iran to enrich uranium as much as six times faster than the current ones.

Philip Cowley, the State Dept. spokesman said that the Iranian nuclear program has ‘nefarious intentions, and that’s why the international community should be more vigilant about it.

The warning however contradicts earlier predictions by Washington experts over Tehran ability to produce even a minuscule amount of higher enriched uranium, which Tehran now claims to have produced several kilograms already. At the time, US said Iran was incapable of producing higher enriched uranium and it would take several more to master the process.
