Representatives from the US, France and the UK, the three countries that supplied nuclear bombs to Israel walked out of the UN meeting, today.

 

May 03, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s President today delivered his long-awaited speech at the UN nuclear conference which aims to renew the NPT safeguards.

 

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad once again reiterated Iran’s readiness to establish constructive relationship with countries interested in the peaceful use of nuclear energy. He reminded that Tehran had been very cooperative with the international atomic energy agency from the very beginning.

 

Ahmadinejad also called for states that openly threaten to deploy atomic weapons against other NPT members to be punished in order to maintain peace and security. That was of course a reference to recent US nuclear policy, which gives itself the right to use nuclear weapons on other nuclear-armed states including North Korea and a non-nuclear weapon state, Iran. 

 

The Iranian President recommended that utterance of threats to use nuclear weapons or attack peaceful nuclear facilities of another nation, must be taken as a serious breach of international rules and regulations. The Iranian President added, ‘ under such circumstances the United Nations and its affiliated bodies should immediately implement swift reactions in order to punish the aggressor.’ He pointed out that among the  punishments should be a suspension from the board of governors of the UN nuclear watchdog in Vienna.

 

Of all countries of the world that were present during Ahmadinejad’s speech only an isolated pocket consisting of representatives from the US, France and UK walked out of the meeting lest they should come face-to-face with the reality.

 

Their departure brought a sigh of relief and new optimism to global community that hopefully one day the world will witness true implementations of NPT safeguards, since these three countries were the only ones in the world that directly transferred nuclear bombs to a non-NPT member namely Israel, by circumventing the NPT safeguards.
