US and UK directly assisted the apartheid regime to access Chemical and Biological Warfare program by supplying all the necessary equipment and chemicals to that regime.

 

Tehran, May 26, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - In an interview with IRNA, Peter Eyre a well-known British analyst  said both the British and American governments were collaborating alongside Israelis to supply nuclear weapons and related technologies to former apartheid regime in South Africa.

 

‘The incredible risks that these governments were prepared to take but also the corrupt way this particular episode in our sordid history was carried out.’ IRNA quotes Eyre as saying.

 

According to Eyre London and Washington knew fully what was going on and yet pretended that they knew nothing. He said the US and UK directly assisted the apartheid regime to access Chemical and Biological Warfare program by supplying all the necessary equipment and chemicals to that regime.

 

According to a published article by Guardian, in March 1975, former apartheid regime’s defense minister P.W.Botha met with his Israeli counterpart Shimon Peres to discuss transfer of nuclear-tipped Jericho missiles to Pretoria for use against regional countries.

‘All of this came about after secret meetings back on the 31st of March 1975. What I can actually reveal is the fact that this offer of assistance eventually turned from missile development program into a full-fledged ‘Battlefield Nuclear Bomb’ development program in which Israeli experts became totally involved,’ Eyre said.

‘I can say that there was no doubt whatsoever that Israel did climb into bed with South Africa and helped them to fully develop their nuclear weapons program which reached a successful conclusion when Israel and South Africa carried out their first and only joint nuclear test on the 22nd of September 1979,’ he added.
