Israeli Forces Continue Harassment of Rachel Corrie MV

Our soldiers will board you if you refuse to change course... We are ready to use force to defend ourselves: IDF spokeswoman.

June 05, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Israeli naval forces have just threatened to board the humanitarian supply ship Rachel Corrie MV by force unless it changes course to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

In Israel an IDF spokeswoman, Avital Leibowitz, warned passengers onboard the ship that Israeli commandos were ready to attack unless it halts the Gaza mission.

Israeli forces have threatened to board a new Gaza-bound international aid ship if it does not reroute to the southern Israeli port of Ashdod. ‘Our soldiers will board you if you refuse to change course... We are ready to use force to defend ourselves,’ AFP quoted IDF spokeswoman as saying.

Israel normally designates its attacks on humanitarian supply ships as some kind of self-defense when the rest of the world has a hard time understanding what it means by that.

Activists onboard Rachel Corrie said their mission to break Gaza siege is not going to change unless Israel decides to hijack it to Ashdod. They said that passengers and crews would not resist Israeli troops whatsoever but suggested an independent team under UN should come onboard and reconfirm its humanitarian cargo once again.

The aid ship is sailing at about 40 km from Gaza port at this time.
