Iran Dismisses UNSC Sanctions as Mere Nothing

The realm of politics has become one of deception, aggression and expansionism, but they are not able to deal a blow to the Iranian nation: Ahmadinejad.

June 09, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian President on a visit to Tajikistan was quick to dismiss UNSC approval of sanctions on Iran. Ahmadinejad called the resolution as simply meaningless for the people of Iran. ‘For the Iranian nation, such resolutions count for nothing,’ said Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad added, those who stockpile thousands of nuclear bombs and threaten to use their nukes on others pass resolutions against Iran one after the other under the pretext that Tehran might one day tries to make a nuclear bomb. ‘The realm of politics has become one of deception, aggression and expansionism, but they are not able to deal a blow to the Iranian nation,’ Ahmadinejad said.

In fact the passing of this new resolution carries a significant meaninglessness of historic proportions. There has rarely been a case where so-called world superpowers had to pass a resolution not knowing what they’re voting on. Following the UNSC decision this afternoon, Russian officials announced they would seek reimbursement if their business relations with Iran were hurt.

US and its Western allies themselves mired in ever growing social and economic problems at home rejected Turkish and Brazilian efforts that sought to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue in an amicable way.  Both Brasilia and Ankara voted against the resolution at the UNSC meeting this afternoon.

Most Iranians now feel that the new UNSC resolution provides a good opportunity for the country to pursue  its peaceful nuclear program in a more robust fashion

than previously.
