'UNSC' the Most Redundant International Body: MP

United Nations Security Council has lost its credibility among the world nations and the body requires to be restructured, as it has turned into an instrument for the US policymakers: Top MP.

Tehran, June 19, 2010 (Hamsyeh.Net) - Top Iranian MP and the Head of Parliament Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaedin Boroujerdi said US meddling has made the United Nation’s Security Council into one absolutely useless body that’s in need of restructuring right away, IRNA reported.

Continuous US bullying and gangster type approaches on important issues through the Security Council mechanism have once again made the UN an irrelevant establishment. The organization now simply employs a handful of technocrats with nothing to show for and just like the former League of Nations, the United Nations is prone to manipulations by the United States and its allies that seek to achieve their own political objectives.

‘United Nations Security Council has lost its credibility among the world nations and the body requires to be restructured, as it has turned into an instrument for the US policymakers.’ Boroujerdi told IRNA. The United States, on more than 60 occasions during the past 10 years, used its so-called vetoing power to halt legal actions against Israel for its crimes against humanity. ‘In practice, the U.N. Security Council proved that it lacks the credibility to maintain security and rights of all nations,’ he said.

The last time Washington used its leverage at the UNSC was after an Israeli attack against international humanitarian aid ships for Gaza in which IDF commandos killed 9 unarmed Turkish passengers.
