Syria Supports Return of the Malvinas to Argentine Motherland

I want to thank Argentina's support for Syria's bid to recover the Golan, just as we support Argentina for the Malvinas.

July 03, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad who was on an official tour of Latin America met Argantine President Critstina Kirchner in Buenos Aires on Friday.

The Syrian President reiterated his country’s support for the return of Malvinas to the motherland Argentina. Britain continues to occupy the islands despite repeated calls for their return to Argentina.  ‘I want to thank Argentina's support for Syria's bid to recover the Golan, just as we support Argentina for the Malvinas.

'We don't call them the Falklands, but Malvinas,’ Syrian President said. The Malvinas consist of two main islands and several hundred smaller ones located about 400 km east of southern parts of Argentina.

The Argentine President, in turn, thanked Syria’s unending support for the return of Malvinas to Argentina. She said her country also seeks return of the Golan Heights to Syria by the Israelis. ‘ We thank Syria for its permanent defense and support of Argentina's claim to the Malvinas, just as we support the return of the Golan Heights to Syria,’ Cristina Kirchner told her Syrian counterpart.

During the course of his visit to Latin America, Bashar al-Assad met with Presidents of Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil and Argentina.

The Malvinas have been under British occupation since 1833.
