Venezuela Might Cut Off Oil Exports to U.S.A.

If there was any armed aggression against Venezuela from Colombian territory or from anywhere else, promoted by the Yankee empire, we would suspend oil shipments to the United States even if we have to eat stones here: Venezuela's Popular President.

July 26, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Revolutionary President of Venezuela who is considered one of world's most respected political figures, has threatened to cut off oil supplies to the United States if a military confrontation breaks out against the US-backed Colombian government.

Hugo Chavez said yesterday, ‘If there was any armed aggression against Venezuela from Colombian territory or from anywhere else, promoted by the Yankee empire, we would suspend oil shipments to the United States even if we have to eat stones here.’ Adding, ‘We would not send a drop more to US refineries.’

A small number of Colombian officials claim that Venezuela is harboring FARC liberation movement guerillas inside the Venezuelan territory, a charge Venezuela denies. The latest threat of an oil embargo against the United States is due to the fact that Washington has been providing financial and military assistance to Alvaro Uribe administration in order to confront the Bolivarian movement from spreading further onto Colombia. Latin American leaders expressed hope that the new Colombian President Jose Manuel Santos would try to build better relations with Latin neighbors unlike the current administration of Alvaro Uribe.

The US is totally dependent on oil imports to run its messed up economy that is based on printing vast amounts of un-supported dollars to pay for expenses. The North American country is officially considered history’s most indebted nation with nearly $80 trillion of debts that will never be repaid to international creditors. The US can afford to print such a huge number of dollars because any shortcomings will be replaced with still cheap and abundant oil on international market.

Oil-rich Venezuela is a large supplier of crude to the  United States and even a small delay in its oil shipment would cause chaos across the US at the time of great economic recession. Right now, The United States grapples with an unprecedented economic challenge never experienced before in the course of its short history.
