North Korea Might be Preparing for a Nuclear Warhead Test

The Chinese leadership believes that the North has sufficient nuclear [weapons manufacturing] capability and is now entering a stage where it is focused on minimizing the size of a warhead: Chinese professor.

July 30, 2010 (Hamsayeh.net) - North Korean military might be getting ready to conduct a nuclear test involving a warhead, claims Chinese professor Zhu Feng at the School of International Studies at Peking University.

Speaking during a seminar in Seoul on Wednesday, Zhu Feng said the Pyongyang has gained increased confidence after the first two underground nuclear detonations it successfully conducted between 2006 and 2009. He said North Korea would soon proceed with a nuclear warhead.

“The Chinese leadership believes that the North has sufficient nuclear [weapons manufacturing] capability and is now entering a stage where it is focused on minimizing the size of a warhead,” Zhu said in a report by South Korean JoongAng Daily.

According to the professor, North Korea’s latest announcement on its successful experiment in creating a nuclear fusion reaction, was not related to construction of a hydrogen bomb, but meant to be interpreted as a step to manufacturing smaller and lighter nuclear weapons.

North Korea has been at loggerheads with United States constant meddling in the regional countries' affairs. Pyongyang has sought friendly reunification  South Korea without foreign interferences.
