Beijing has voiced concerns over repeated manifestation of naval power by the United States near its 18,000 km-long shoreline in recent days. August 07, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - A newly developed Chinese manufactured missile would render US naval armada obsolete, AP reported from China. The new missile dubbed ‘Carrier-Killing’ missile is considered an awesome hi-tech weapon that has a reach of over 1500 km with pinpoint accuracy. The weapon is designed to sink major vessels such as aircraft carriers and their accompanying ships sailing at high speeds. Aircraft carriers such as USS Harry Truman and George Washington have higher speeds due to their nuclear powered engines, which make them difficult as targets. But, the ‘Carrier-killing’ missile also known as Dongfeng 21D would be capable of sinking those high cost targets; penetrate their heavy amour like no other missiles. China would begin mass production of Dongfeng 21D by the end of this year but plans to carryout more tests within the next few months. Beijing has voiced concerns over repeated manifestation of naval power by the United States near its 18,000 km-long shoreline recently. The US often stages joint naval exercises with South Korea under the misleading guise of facing Pyongyang. According to leading analysts, in reality Washington is doing all it can to control China’s growing global clout. Washington has been pursuing the strategy of containing China through limiting the latter’s direct access to global energy supplies following the collapse of the USSR. Such a strategy, if successful, would allow the United States and its allies dictate Western World’s terms upon the Asian nation and its surrounding areas for many years into the future.
