US Says Iran's Nuclear Issue Not So Urgent

We think that they have roughly a year dash time, and a year is a very long period of time: US President's senior advisor, Gary Samore.

August 20, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The Obama administration claims Iran wont have the ability to process nuclear material into working weapon for at least another year, reported New York Times yesterday.

According to one of US President’s senior advisors, Gary Samore, there’s still plenty of time before Iran could produce a nuclear weapon and therefore there is no urgency concerning that issue. ‘We think that they have roughly a year dash time, and a year is a very long period of time’ Gary Samore said.

He also said the United States is able to foresee Iran’s nuclear developments as it progresses well ahead of time. Meanwhile IAEA inspectors in Iran have been closely inspecting the nuclear plants and have found no diversions whatsoever until now.

In spite of Iran’s outstanding cooperation with the IAEA the US and its Western allies issued a UNAC resolution against Iran, which aimed at imposing economic sanctions.

Russia and Iran plan to start up Bushehr on August 21 after years of delaying its launch due to technical problems. The site has passed all the tests and is ready to begin generating electricity within the next two to three months.
