Three More US-led Troops Die in Afghanistan

August 20, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Three more US-led soldiers died in combat in Afghanistan today when a deadly bomb explosion killed 2 soldiers and a third killed by Taliban fighters.

So far this US-led coalition lost more than 441 troops, which sets a record for the past nine years when US invaded the Afghan homeland. Official US own records point to more than 2000 US troops killed in Afghanistan, whereas reliable sources count the number US casualties at more than 4500 troops killed and over tens of thousand wounded.

One of Taliban’s most effective weapons against the US-led troops is the improvised explosive device (IED), which have been used quite efficiently against coalition forces. Afghanistan’s skilled craftsmen using very primitive tools assemble IED’s in far away rural villages across the country. These simple bombs can effectively rip through toughest of amours used by the United States and NATO troops in Afghanistan.

An Afghan woman killed yesterday by US forces during a raid supposedly aimed at capturing a Taliban commander in Khost Province. While most of US and NATO casualties relate to troops engaged in combat against Afghan fighters, unfortunately most of Afghan casualties on the other hand are ordinary civilians including many women and children.

The United States seemingly terrified at face-to-face engagement with the Taliban, very often just deploys unmanned aerial drone strikes that are controlled remotely. Such inhuman way of combat raises the possibility of civilian casualties by random bombardment.
