No Change in US Policies: Daniel Ortega

US is not in a position to launch a serious war against Nicaragua nor against other progressive nations in Latin America.

August 25, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua says the United States has not changed even a little bit as it continues to interfere, concoct coup and use threatening policies against other countries.

The comments came during an exclusive TV interview with journalist Elena Rosrova from Russia Today television, on Monday. Ortega said initially the US President Obama during a meeting held in Trinidad and Tobago announced a new American policy toward other countries, which he termed a ‘Change’ in US policies.

‘A few weeks after that meeting, a coup d’etat was carried out in Honduras, which was against the goodwill expressed in Trinidad and Tobago,’ Ortega said. According to Ortega The US change is just on the surface but in reality it is following same policies as before. ‘So far, they are not in a position to carry out a coup in Nicaragua as they did in Honduras. They do not have the support of the Nicaraguan army nor police,’ he added.

The Nicaraguan President also said the US is not in a position to launch a serious war against his country nor against other progressive nations in Latin America that have broken bounds with Washington for the past several years.
